How do we get there? Plan C
From the South via Gympie -
Plan C
Third best option: When you have to travel at a time other than low
tide, use the highway.

This route is longer in distance but about the same
in travel time.
- Driving Instructions:
- - From Brisbane, drive north along the Bruce Highway (1) as far as
the southern outskirts of Gympie (about 170km).
- - Turn right at the sign to Tin Can Bay. This road takes you
through the southern suburbs of Gympie. Follow the signs
towards Tin Can Bay.
- - Turn right at the sign to Rainbow Beach.
- - Just as you enter town, the National Parks
Ranger's office will be on your right. Call in here for your
Fraser Island vehicle permit, tide tables and the latest info on
Fraser Island beach and track conditions.
- - Continue into town, pass the Shell service
station on your left (last chance for mainland fuel; not cheap, but
cheaper than on the island), pass the park on your left and turn
left at the sign to "Inskip Point".
- Continue from Rainbow Beach to Eurong as per
Plan A.
